Sadly, our father, Rex Dibley passed away on 25 April 2024. Rex probably did more to popularise the now well-known houseplant, Streptocarpus, than anyone else. Rex's interest in Streptocarpus began when in the early 1970's a school's groundskeeper (Rex was a biology teacher for many years) gave him Streptocarpus 'Constant Nymph'. This gift led to the whole greenhouse at home being taken over by these plants, and this is how Dibleys Nurseries started.
In 2007, Rex Dibley was awarded the Veitch Memorial Medal by the RHS, given to "persons of any nationality who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement and improvement of the science and practice of horticulture"
There's so much more we could say but we'll leave it there for now. He will be missed by us all.
